In the past, I have just copied and pasted the whole library folder over, but I realize I'll either end up with a bunch of duplicates/time telling it to ignore duplicates, or to avoid this, create a bunch of random new folders sorted by date instead of type/subject to copy over. I got an external hard drive, and I obviously want to use it as one method of backing up my laptop. Admittedly, I'm not super knowledgeable, but I've been searching the Internet and trying to learn.
